…I just wanted to write a note and say thank you so much! I did enjoy my week stay at Solterra! The apartment was cute, suited and served me just fine. The meals were all good, I probably ate too much. To add to that, the people, employees, and residents were wonderful! The employees in the dining room were so nice and efficient… all the wonderful residents I met were all so nice! Tell them all hello for me! They all added to a nice week at Solterra. Thank you all so much!

My husband, John, had been staying in the memory unit at Solterra Senior Living. I cannot express enough what a wonderful and caring place it is.

The caregiver care in the memory unit was excellent. They are trained so good. They not only do their job just right, but they are so friendly and caring to the patients and their families and visitors. I could not have asked for better care than he received. The nurse, administrator, and support staff were so wonderful. Also the food was out of this world. It certainly is not nursing home food. It is presented so nicely on the plate.

I have no complaints and my husband’s last days there were just wonderful.

Thanks Solterra for a job well done.

The times you provided exactly what was needed during my mother’s residency at Solterra are too numerous to be listed. I don’t even know all the details but I know enough to be able to say that she could not have completed her life’s journey in a better place. I always describe Solterra as a place to live, not a place to die. But now I can say it is the best of all possible places to spend one’s final days.

The caregivers and other staff who offered their hearts along with their willing hands provided an extended family and my mother made a point of learning their names and something about each of them. She noted their names and their daily duties in her daily journal. No matter when I visited, I noticed that every staff member offered tender and supportive comments. Mom was always shown respect and personal friendship. People often joked with her and made her days brighter.

Mom provided her own moments of challenge for the staff, but they always tried to let Etta be Etta. When changes were necessary, they were always handled appropriately. Mom was safe and sometimes that meant keeping her safe from herself.

Karen was incredibly responsive and I often found it so helpful to email her with a concern. Her professional expertise was obvious and so was her caring heart.

In our final weeks the coordination with Hospice Compassus amazed me. The staff at Solterra worked with the Hospice staff and when there were some concerns, you addressed them promptly and completely. You death with our family as if we were your own.

I would like to commend Solterra’s corporate culture. As soon as one enters the facility, there is an ambiance of sight, sound and smell that invites one to linger and enjoy the peace. During my mother’s final week, her room was kept fresh and softly lit. One of our friends had brought in some comforting music. Volunteers and staff were in frequent attendance at the bedside. Mother was kept clean, comfortable and free of pain. Her peaceful passing is a memory I can cherish.

Please extend our appreciation to the entire Solterra staff and the corporate headquarters for the provision of loving and affordable care to our mother.

It is with sincere thanks and appreciation that I send this letter to all of you for making our three weeks at Solterra one of the most enjoyable vacations that we have had in many years.

Joe and I were very impressed with the friendliness of your staff. They were all very attentive and responded immediately to any of our requests. The facility itself was beautifully furnished and had a very “homey” feeling from the time that we arrived until our departure last Thursday.

Everything in the dining room was above reproach. The food was delicious, the selections were excellent, and when the servers could remember your individual likes and dislikes – that was very much appreciated in itself.

The greatest asset that Solterra has is you, Sunshine. Not only are you excellent in your position, but like your first name implies, you bring a ray of ‘sunshine’ to everyone you meet. It is because of you that we have decided to make our next move to Solterra.

Until then, thank you again for making our stay at Solterra so enjoyable.

In contemplation of retirement (at age of 84) from my position as a Federal Arbitrator Judge, in August 2011 I traveled from my home near Houston, Texas to view the retirement community known as Solterra Senior Living in Lakeside, Arizona— having been told about the place by my daughter (who lives in Show Low, Arizona).

From the time I first looked at the well-designed and spacious (980 square feet) apartment which I rented and still occupy at Solterra Senior Living, I was convinced that I would be happy therein—my first words when I opened the door and walked inside (it was the “Model Apartment” at the time) having been ‘This is really a nice apartment.’ And, I have had no disappointments. I thoroughly enjoy living here.

After my father died, my mother was left in Phoenix to manage the house by herself. It soon became apparent that the up-keep and maintenance of the house was too much for her to handle.

My sister lives out of state and we moved to Show Low. After looking at many options in Phoenix, we decided that the best move would be to bring her to Show Low. My neighbor had moved her mother to Solterra and was extremely pleased with the care. After touring the facility, I was pleased to see the cleanliness, the caring staff and the quality of the independent and assisted living areas.

I can honestly say that after moving my mother in, I have not been disappointed. The staff from the director down all go above and beyond to insure that the residents are taken care of. They have all been very prompt and followed up on any issues that have arisen.

We, including my mother, all feel that we made a good choice with Solterra.
